Fat Wallet – Pocket the Difference

Fat Wallet

Fat Wallet is basically a bargain hunting website, based on a set of forums where users can post deals and rebate offers which are available for the entire community.  The deals cover a wide range of products and services, however, computer related posts are the most common.  Users are able to “share” and “subscribe” to the site via e-mail, social bookmarking, and RSS feeds.

According to their FAQ section

“FatWallet’s mission is to serve consumers with knowledge, value and guidance. It’s like having a HALF MILLION friends to ask advice from, and all the rebates and coupons to make it happen at the lowest possible price.”

In addition to the Hot Deals, “Free Stuff” giveaways are discussed on the forums every day, as well as travel deals, finance deals, product reviews and reviews of general retailers.

Fat Wallet originally started back in 1999 with a program called FastCash dealing with referral links to various online stores.

A recent trend with Fat Wallet is that it has been turning into a place where the users can discuss any financial-related topic, such as credit cards, mortgages, investments, banks, etc…  They now have a finance forum where various tax professionals will answer users questions to anything tax related, which could be very useful to most tax payers.  Some of the answers are as simple as giving someone an IRS publication that discusses their exact situation, while other answers give people tax advice on retirement accounts, mortgage refinances, tax shelters, and much, much more. You can spend hours on end reading the forums at FatWallet, and go on the next day, and have a whole new set of topics to jump into.

If you’re interested in saving some money and have an interest in current financial news, Fat Wallet is an excellent site to visit.
